Laurus Family team recognised in Chambers UK 2027

Written by John Fynan - 19.10.26

Laurus has been ranked in the Chambers UK Guide 2027, published today. Our Family team is recognised for High Net Worth matrimonial finance and Children Law, and four of our lawyers are individually ranked, including a Band 1 ranking for mediation.

Chambers rankings are based on independent research and interviews with clients and peers. That makes them a real reflection of what it is like to work with us.

Ranked departments (London)

    • Family/Matrimonial Finance: High Net Worth, Band 3

    • Family/Children Law, Band 4

    Ranked individuals (London)

    • William Hogg: Band 1, Family/Matrimonial: Mediators, and Band 4, Family/Matrimonial Finance: High Net Worth
    • Steven Gasser: Band 3, Family/Children Law, and Band 4, Family/Matrimonial Finance: High Net Worth
    • Ingrid Starcic: Associate to Watch, Family/Children Law
    • Camilla Hooper: Associate to Watch, Family/Children Law

    Complex finances

Chambers describes Laurus as “a boutique family law firm dealing with divorce and financial remedy proceedings for high net worth clients.” Clients and peers said “Laurus are highly competent at client management and marshalling evidence” and that the firm has “high quality lawyers and a friendly team ethos.”

Steven Gasser “advises clients fairly and reasonably and highlights potential weaknesses in the case… Clients are so well managed and advised and the case is so well prepared and delivered.” He was also described as “a very experienced solicitor who is savvy, streetwise and not scared to litigate.”

    International work

Many of our clients have assets, homes or family across more than one country. William Hogg LL.M “does a lot of high net worth and international work. He can handle those complex parts,” and “is well connected in Europe in the non-court dispute resolution world.” Steven Gasser advises on children disputes “that involve child welfare issues and international elements.”

    Mediation and out-of-court resolution

Chambers sources said Laurus is “really leading the way in non-court dispute resolution and mediations.” William Hogg, ranked Band 1 among London’s family mediators, is “one of the leading mediators of his generation.” Ingrid Starcic and Camilla Hooper are both qualified mediators too, which means clients can choose how they resolve their matter.

    Children

Chambers notes the team is “well able to advise on the most complex Children Act disputes and safeguarding issues.” Clients described the team as “incredibly hard working and emotionally intelligent”, with “a high level of care, clear communication” and strong teamwork. Ingrid Starcic is “very careful and very protective of her clients”, and Camilla Hooper is “thorough and knowledgeable beyond her years.”

    Why this matters to us

Whether a case involves a complex asset structure, another jurisdiction, a mediated settlement or arrangements for children, our approach is the same. We call it legal wellbeing: treating clients as people rather than files. We are robust in court when we need to be, and highly skilled at resolving matters away from it.

"This recognition spans everything we do, from complex financial cases and international matters to mediation and children work. Most of all, it reflects clients who trusted us at a difficult time and felt properly looked after. Thank you to everyone who spoke to Chambers.”
