The role will suit a solicitor or Legal Executive with 6 years + PQE with outstanding client care, and the ambition to develop their practice whilst supporting the Head of Legacy in supervising and mentoring a thriving team. The role may also suit an experienced solicitor who wishes to support us on a consultancy basis.

You will need to be pragmatic, have an eye for detail, and be prepared to think on your feet. You should have solid experience of a wide range of private client matters with technical expertise, outstanding client care skills, and the ambition to work in a dynamic environment. You may wish to be considered for a future leadership role.

As a Senior Associate or Partner, you’ll be the operational backbone with which the department stands. You’ll be an ambassador of the firm – working directly with and for our key clients and continuing to build upon our reputation for excellence.

Together with the Head of Legacy and senior management team you will share the responsibility for our commercial success in delivering budgets, training and mentoring of team members, and preserving our core SLAs so that our business has the strongest possible foundation to deliver Legal Wellbeing to our clients.

A following is preferable but not essential provided you can demonstrate a plan to build new relationships and develop existing ones.

Some key areas of expertise are as follows:

  • Lasting Powers of Attorneys & Issues on Mental Capacity.
  • UK and international tax planning.
  • Creation of both domestic and offshore trusts.
  • Asset Protection in relation to Care Home Fees, Divorce, Bankruptcy.
  • Declarations of Trust for joint property owned in unequal shares.
  • Inheritance issues both in the UK and internationally.
  • Preparation of Wills for both international and UK-based clients.
  • Estate related tax advice for both international and UK-based clients.
  • Post-death tax planning.
  • Administration of estates including those with assets in a number of jurisdictions and those involving international conflicts of law.
  • Managing and building relationships with clients and introducers.
  • Supervising paralegals, trainees, and support staff.
